I was always bored out of my mind when there would be a ''review'' of the 3-4 day summer convention. After spending 4 days in the ''brain damaging heat'' in the middle of July with no shade, they would review the convention talks a couple of days later at the Ministry School. (Like I really needed to be reminded that the main speakers from Bethel would sit in an air conditioned box seat and were walked to the podium with an umbrella over their heads while everyone else suffered heat stroke).

Could ''boredom'' at the Kingdom Hall be one reason why some members leave?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inyou'll find boredom where there is the absence of a good idea earl nightingale quotes (us motivational writer and author, 1921-1989).
let's forget that most members leave due to the wrong beliefs, doctrines and practices of the wts!.
i was bored out of my mind from the repetitive: talks, prayers, ministry school demonstrations, field service talks(peddle magazines),assemblies, special talks and watchtower magazine study articles.

Where are the new ideas? Why are things studied over and over? How many times can you remind someone until they tune you out?

Skynyrd was in my town this summer at a big venue were they sold less than 1500 tickets. As to the Outlaws, they played at a community college over the summer. The teacher that they named the band after( LEONARD SKINNER) passed away this summer.
I saw Skynyrd in 1975 and in August 1977. Two months later their plane crashed after running out of fuel. They played some songs from their new album ''Street Survivors''. The crowds at both shows were near 60,000. They were the best Southern Rock band ever. ''Sweet Home Alabama'' and ''Freebird'' made 60,000 people stand to their feet.
After Ronnie passed away, his brother Johnny took over as lead singer. He wasn't Ronnie but in my opinion was the perfect fit for the band. After all the deaths and firings in the band, only Gary Rossington was the sole member of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd.
With only 1 sole member playing,Southern Rock waning,no new hits, less radio play, playing the same songs over and over, the music of Lynyrd Skynrd became a nostalgia act just like the Beach Boys.

What are you main ''beefs''(complaints) with the WTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini will tell my main problems i have with the wts:.
too many meetings...repetition of material...the name "jehovah"...baptising of minors...disfellowshipping of minors or anyone who does not wish to remain in the congregation...the translation of the "new world translation"...timeslips for service hours...young children being called ''ministers''...the constant worship of "the faithful and discreet slave"(who make themselves more important than jesus)...all the rules and regulations in every aspect of your life...the constant reminder to do ''more''... lies as to what is happening inside the wts...the fighting between congregation members...no reading of any other source other than the wts material...and on and on..

My brother is an elder. He has 3 kids who have been raised to preach from an early age. They would ''place'' magazines as youngsters to being ''pioneers'' today. They all work part-time jobs today so they can ''pioneer''. Two of them went to college and were offered good paying full-time jobs. But at the end, they decided that working part time and ''pioneering'' was their best choice.
When they were around 12-14 years old, they were made to ''pioneer'' in the summer months. They would ''pioneer'' in the hot summer months while all other kids would be sleeping in,swimming, playing, and going on vacation. Just picture a 12 year old peddling ''WATCHTOWER MAGAZINES'' with a suit and tie in the sweltering months of July and August.
I wish I called Child Services on my brother for the inhumanity he put on his kids.

Why Are They Called "Pioneers"?
by Ding indoes anyone know how the wts came up with the term "pioneer" and the related "auxiliary" and "special" pioneer terms?.
it's not in the bible and it seems to come from us expansionist history....

''Pioneers'' sounds better than ''OFFICIAL TIME WASTERS''.

My brother was counseled for working nights when he was a teen. He worked at a grocery store and missed the ''book study'' and ''ministry school'' meetings.(He needed money to pay for gas and car insurance.)
My mom made him quit his job when the elders asked why he was missing so many weekly meetings.
They had a part at the ''service meeting'' with my brother and an elder talking about the dangers of working nights when you should be attending the weekly meetings. The congregation,my mom,and elders were all happy he quit his part time job.
Last year at the 1 day assembly,a brother gave an experience the whole congregation loved .He worked in construction and missed too many meetings because the work involved finishing concrete and staying there to make sure that no one wrote on the concrete. The elders asked him why it was so important to work at a field where he would miss so many meetings.
He talked it over with his wife and decided to quit his job. After one year he was still unemployed but at least he wouldn't miss any more meetings and that Jehovah would provide for his family.(He failed to mention that he lived downstairs from his parents and that they helped him financially)

What causes the authority complex the WTS has? Or even common JWs? What drives the need to control others?
by miseryloveselders inhttp://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/194364/1/witnesses-cant-take-the-heat.
in the thread above, several posters made the point that if xjws could walk away from the religion without losing their family and close friends, then they wouldn't even bother worrying about the wts afterwards.
they would simply move on in life.

RULES & REGULATIONS
This is my favorite thread ever started in the 4 years I've been on J.W.N.!
That's been my question all along!
Why can't they let me tell the Elders that I no longer wish to be a member?
Why do I need to lie about why I no longer preach, give talks, don't answer at meetings, and show up at the meeting only 3 times a month?
Why will I be labeled an apostate if I no longer believe?
Why must my family disown me if I no longer believe the ''truth''?
Why must I choose between my family and the WTS?
What harm does the WTS suffer if I decide NEVER talk bad about the organization?
Why is it so easy to get in but so difficult to get out?
Why do you (WTS) believe in the freedom of speach for the Society but not to individual members in the congregations?
Why don't you condense all your operations and make the religion only for diehards?
I think the answer to your question is that the flood gates would open and most members would leave the organization. Who then would be left to contribute money and distribute the literature?
